No. 2 Northeastern downs No. 10 Harvard 3-1 to advance to Women's Beanpot final

BOSTON — Powered by Alina Mueller's three-point performance, the No. 2 Northeastern women's hockey team skated past the No. 10 Harvard Crimson, 3-1, to advance to the Beanpot championship game.

With the victory, Northeastern (24-3-1) will advance to its first Beanpot championship game since 2017. The Huskies will face the winner of the second semifinal game between Boston University and Boston College next Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 8 p.m.

Mueller scored her lone goal of the evening in the opening stanza to put the Huskies ahead 1-0. Skylar Fontaine would follow Mueller's goal up in the second period with a tally of her own to push the score to 2-0.

Harvard (12-9-1) then cut the deficit to 2-1 in the second period with a goal from Shannon Hollands. The Crimson would get no closer as they opted to pull their goalie and went up 6-5 in the waning minutes. Chloe Aurard punctuated the Huskies victory with an empty-net goal with just 12 seconds remaining to give Northeastern a 3-1 win.

Aerin Frankel finished with 31 saves between the pipes for the Huskies, while Harvard's Becky Dutton tallied 35 saves.
